Beseen has a large variety of web page
tools for free. Using and customizing the tools are pretty easy. All the
details of the tools are e-mailed to you after you enter your information.
The look and feel of the tools are friendly and nicely formatted aside from
the advertisements. You get what you pay for though. Beseen offers, among other things, a hit
counter, site search, quizzes, quick navigation control, 1-for-1 banner ad
exchange, guestbook, bulletin board, chat room, and a WWW search engines.
Signing Up
Signing up for these
services are rather a bother because you have to fill out a form for each
tool you want. If you plan to use a lot of these tools, be prepare to keep a
list of cryptic account numbers and passwords. They e-mail you your account
number and password along with all the information you might need for editing
the tool.
Editing the Tools
Depending on the tool, you can go edit or customize them by going to the
administration page specified in the e-mail from them. Step-by-step and easy-
to-use instructions help you in editing and customizing the tools. The
interfaces are very friendly and intuitive. Probably the only technical thing
you need to know is some color hex
values.
The Ads
The Internet's commercials. Depending on the type, Beseen usually puts one ad
and some Beseen propaganda on the tool. The guestbook, for example, has a
banner ad at the top and two Beseen plugs at the bottom while the search
engine just has a small link to themselves. I would rate Beseen's use of
advertising about average. Mainly because they have a plug for themselves on
every tool.
Features
Beseen's tools have a lot of neat little features incorporated into them. For
example, the search engine can be configured to use what they call Quick
Links which are icons that go wherever you configure them to. What's more,
you get paid for every person that uses the search engine! This is one of the
coolest features. Some other cool things include a nicely made Quizlet
statistics page, starting out a counter at any number you want, e-mail
notification of a guestbook or bulletin board posting, and very cool
customizable, chat room.
Summary
All in all, Beseen offers some pretty good web page tools that are easy to
configure and look attractive. On the other hand, it is rather slow when it
comes to loading the tools, and somewhat limited when it comes to
customizing. Yet it does have a wide selection of tools to choose from.
